Jose has been taking pictures since 2007, but his artistic direction changed dramatically in 2019 after a severe car accident resulted in a concussion. Unable to use screens, he turned to nature and his camera to manage chronic headaches, depression, and anxiety. This experience ignited his passion for wildlife photography. Since then, Jose has traveled across Colombia capturing its rich biodiversity and has partnered with national and international organizations like the American Bird Conservancy, Friends of Sax Zim Bog, Minnesota Valley Refuge Friends, and the Ornithological Society of Córdoba, Carpenter Nature Center, and others, raising over $350,000 for bird habitat conservation.
Mario has been painting since he was 17 years old. After trying different jobs and wandering aimlessly in life, he decided to follow his passion and focus 100% on painting. He has painted portraits, city murals, and abstract subjects, but he feels most connected to his work and God when he paints anything related to mother nature. His biggest spiritual therapy is the paintbrush. Mario still lives in Planeta Rica Colombia, and Jose settled down in Stillwater Minnesota after living abroad.
